The House has passed the $787 billion plan to resuscitate the economy, handing President Barack Obama a big victory. It’s an imposing eight inch thick mass of tax cuts and government spendings. Obama wasn’t completely overjoyed though, as it seems he had to make some actual diplomatic compromises, and the opposition is fierce; calling it “nothing short of a generational theft” since it burdens future generations with massive amounts of debt.
The measure was passed on a 246-183, with no Republican “yes” votes. It will now go to the Senate, where a vote is expected later Friday.
