What Has Obama Accomplished
Update: As there are now quite a few places that are linking to this outdated post, I would like to direct you to also check out this updated list of what Obama has done in office as well as this post with some of his newer efforts. He must be doing something right as he’s extending his lead over Romney in the latest polling.
Due to the recent pause here on WIOD, I am sure our readers would really like to know what they’ve missed!
Well, this President seems to be working in some kind of alternate dimension and it’s hardly possible to list every thing he’s been up to until now, but here’s a (incomplete) list of things that the administration has changed so far:
- Reversed restrictions on stem cell research
- Appointed an assistant to the president for science and technology policy
- Created a foreclosure prevention fund for homeowners
- Expanded loan programs for small businesses
- Extended and indexed the 2007 Alternative Minimum Tax patch
- Expanded eligibility for State Children’s Health Insurance Fund (SCHIP)
- Expanded funding to train primary care providers and public health practitioners
- Directed military leaders to end war in Iraq
- Sent two additional brigades to Afghanistan
- As promised gave a speech at a major Islamic forum in the first 100 days of his administration
- Granted Americans unrestricted rights to visit family and send money to Cuba
- Restored funding for the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (Byrne/JAG) program
- Released presidential records
- Now requires new hires to sign a form affirming their hiring was not due to political affiliation or contributions
- Pushed for enactment of Matthew Shepard Act, which expands hate crime law to include sexual orientation and other factors
- Created a White House Office on Urban Policy
- Supported increased funding for the NEA
- Funded a major expansion of AmeriCorps
- Worked to overturn Ledbetter vs. Goodyear
- Banned lobbyist gifts to executive employees
- Pledged to weatherize 1 million homes per year
- Invested in all types of alternative energy
- Enacted tax credit for consumers for plug-in hybrid cars
- Provided grants to encourage energy-efficient building codes
- As promised appointed at least one Republican to the cabinet
- Extended unemployment insurance benefits and temporarily suspended taxes on these benefits.
Of course, we are still awaiting for many of his biggest campaign promises to be fulfilled and many of the major issues are still pretty shady on what he’s really going to do. And to be fair, this list is some of the neat things Obama has done and not the bad – but I would be hard pressed to really find much concrete for such a list as the things that possibly can end up on that side are still in the works (for example the Iraq war, Afghanistan, the bailout, stimulus package, closing Guantanamo and of course the haunting marijuana legalization issue).
So far, pretty neat track record.

Natalie Casey i didnt think about that but yea he needs to see what he has done and he realy need to take a real good look at it and he needs to help the homeless and poor that are on the edge of bein homeless
Well, it looks like he has done some things after all.
However, where in your list does it state that he is a copyright drone like all the other presidents (supporting freedom-violating bills or treaties such as the ACTA and DMCA), that he wanted to hold bittorrent software developers responsible for what their customers do with their software (such as copyright infringement, which would basically ban all bittorrent software: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=18815), or that he wanted the power to have private citizens assassinated under the guise of preventing ‘terrorism’ (a commonplace excuse to strip away our freedoms as of late)?
Obama was dropped into a pile of sh*t and left to dig his way out of it. A man willing to do it too. The man is working his ass off (notice how much he has aged in such little time? ) The man is working HARD.

yes he has done somthings but it is costing us a lot of money some have lost there homes WHAT HAS HE DONE FOR THEM hats right NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i read a articile yesterday on this school were 98% of the kids are on free or reduce lunch there is no air windows to look out and there gyms floor is brokin They need help and he needs to help the schools in need
I hope you all realize that Obama is just one guy you all use a scapegoat for your problems. While he may not be perfect, he is trying his best to fix our country. Why do you have to hate him when he is finally trying to do something good for our country
that may be true but have you seen any thing change that helps us out b/c i dont all i see are more homeless people.
So is he just supposed to fix all of the problems made by the previous administration? Things get worse before they get better.

Why can’t we blame people for the stuff they’ve caused? We’re still feeling ripples from every president we’ve ever had. I’m fairly certain that we can still place a fair amount of blame on Bush.
When is it not going to be bush’s fault? 2016 when his second term is over? Do you know in one of his speeches he blamed europe! Sooner or later you got to stop blaming people and just roll up your sleaves and grab a shovel

come on guys hes just the president…. How much control does he really have on changing bills that takes money out of rich peoples pockets. I think he will become more then just the first African American president. If he shakes things up too much you might see a war pop up out of no where. In order to change america you have to first change the minds and culture of alot of people.
Yea, he did all the the first term, so that he could get a second term… and what has he done with the second term? Try to strip us of our rights, and put us in another war?
